Bluearth programs are all about using movement to create happy, healthy, engaged children. The Active Schools program is delivered over a school year, providing movement sessions for students and professional development for classroom teachers. The program’s long-term approach in a school guides teachers through a gradual release of responsibility model progressing from observation and engagement to delivery of the program themselves. Throughout the program there is also an emphasis on engaging the wider school community in physically active events. The Active School program has three variants dependent on setting and target audience: Early Childhood, Leadership and Mindful Movement programs.
A typical Bluearth session would incorporate some of Bluearth’s six elements of movement: Core movement, dynamic movement, skill activities, challenges and games, coordination and agility and movement in the environment. Sessions are usually flexible and seek to engage with the group in the best way possible; creating an environment where difficulties and successes are discussed and shared. Included are mindfulness aspects focused on breath and mindful movement and encourage participants to reflect on their experiences in a safe environment.
