What is a health promoting school? Increasing health literacy in WA schools
This third edition of the What is a health promoting school? book is a comprehensive resource developed to assist school staff and other stakeholders in Western Australia (WA) to adopt the World Health Organization’s (WHO) 2021 Global standards and indicators for health promoting schools1. It includes detailed explanation of the benefits and process involved in being a health promoting school as well as tools, resources and links that can assist your school on its journey to a health promoting school.
The book, and the website, showcases the work being done in schools across WA by passionate and innovative educators and includes case studies written by the school’s project coordinator and endorsed by the school principal.
We encourage you to use these schools as examples of what can be achieved when a school places the health and wellbeing of the whole school community at the forefront.
As WAHPSA member agencies continue to work with all schools across Western Australia, we will gather more examples of a whole school approach to health and wellbeing, so check back here regularly.
We encourage you to share your journey with us as well.
