Young Carers $3000 Bursary Grant- Opens Monday 16th August

Whether you are working in a school or organization and know a young carer you can support them to apply for the $3000 grant to support their education. Please use the resource links below to access materials to promote this opportunity- we really want to see as many young carers in WA as possible receive this funding!

About the Bursary

To be eligible for a Young Carer Bursary, young carers need to be aged 12 –  25yrs,  studying at high school, college, technical institute, university or registered training organisation. 

Young Carers must either be an Australian citizen or permanent resident,  and not already have  an Advanced Diploma or higher.

The initiative offers 1,000 bursaries across the whole of Australia, to the value of $3,000 each year.

The bursary can be used for education or training expenses, that will help towards your study goals. This may include:

  • School fees
  • Laptop and software
  • Uniforms
  • Transport and accommodation
  • Respite care
  • Emotional support
  • Extracurricular activities

A young carer is someone who provides unpaid care and support to a family member or friend with a disability, a physical or mental illness, long term health condition, substance dependency, or who is frail aged.

Applications for the Young Carer Bursary Program open Monday 16th August 2021 and close Thursday, 30th September 2021.
