Young Carers in Education Grants 2020

Applications OPEN on 6 January for 3 lucky young carers to receive $1000 to go towards their educational expenses. Please note this opportunity is needs based and will be selected by our funders at the Soroptimist International. To be eligible for the education grants young carers much be 16 to 25 years old with a goal to attend further academic and/or vocational studies such as an apprenticeship, TAFE or university.

New Year Young Carers Family Picnic

RSVPs are now OPEN for the New Year Young Carers Family Picnic in Kings Park on Wednesday 22 January 2020. This is a really great opportunity for families and young carers to meet myself and the young carers team, discuss all topics NDIS and have individual chats with staff.

2020 Happenings

In the next year to come you can expect to see a lot of positive changes happening in the Young Carers Program.

  • Young Carers Peer Support Groups in Schools with an Online Toolkit for Educators – COMING VERY SOON!!
  • A range of different style workshops, presentations and expos available in primary schools, high schools, CARE schools, TAFES, Universities, parents and educators.
  • Opportunity to work in an outreach capacity with education facilities and community organisations ongoing- building a strong and trusting relationship with our young carers and have a person centered approach to supporting them.
  • Increased partnership opportunities to send our young carers out on activities and camps, either to take a break or upskill! Stay tuned – more announced shortly!
